I once photographed and posed new born babies!

And let me tell you, it took A LOT of work!! No understatement there. Don't get me wrong, I loved the final result; the beautiful images of babies sleeping, curled, posed. And while I'm glad to have moved on to family sessions outdoors, I must say when I do look back at the images I definitely feel it was worth all the posing, napping, feeding, nappy changing, settling, making and buying props, setting up props, organising colour combinations and so much more.

This is one of my favourite images. I sourced a set of Babushka dolls and material for a European/Asian themed new born shoot. This image required me to take a separate shot of the Babushka dolls and then a shot of the new born. In post processing I ppaced the iamges together and went from there.

My all-time favourite new born image! For this Aussie themed image I had to source a heap of native/kind-of native flowers. Thankfully this was easy, a friend's property had numerous trees overladen with the flowers and leaves you see in the image above. She allowed me to help my self, and I sure did! I was thrilled with the final result.

Thankfully, I already had the wooden bowl. I did manipulate the bowl into the shape of Australia in post processing. The background is a throw rug, this only required a little smoothing out in post processing.

Lavender grows in abundance in South Australia. The scent the flower gives is very calming. It may have even helped her settle I believe ;)

You can't forget to include the parents in the images. I used to love seeing their emotional responses to one another as I prompted them. And on the odd occasion baby would pop a smile at just the right time too! Ahhhhh, melting moments!

Who knows, I may just get back into new born sessions one day, not just yet!

Cheers,

Natalie
